Summer Camp Counselor-DSP- Chesapeake, VA

Camp Counselor/DSP - Enjoy a rewarding and challenging position with a nonprofit organization that has been helping educate, train and provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities since 1955. Eggleston is currently seeking applicants for the part time positions of camp counselor/DSP to work at our Camp Civitan location in Chesapeake for mid-May through August. The summer camp program offers vacation opportunities for adults with disabilities in a positive, therapeutic environment. Counselors must be available to work Monday thru Friday and be able to work rotating shifts to meet the needs of campers.

Essential duties include; providing quality service to assist with direct care of associates in the camp program; work with individuals as part of a team, 1 to 1, and in groups; develop and implement individualized service plans; enhance community integration by facilitating community outings; transporting participants; completing required documentation and attending required staff training.

Qualified applicants must have the physical stamina to provide assistance to participants and complete training and communicate orally and in writing. Must have computer skills to complete appropriate documentation. Applicants must have the physical stamina to work in outdoor summer climate. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., push, pull, and bend and be able to stand for two or more hours. A Bachelor degree in Human Services is preferred but not required. Experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred. Must be able to drive a multi-passenger vehicle. Pre-employment drug testing, clearance through criminal background investigation, and acceptable driving record required.
